There was gold in that there river...well, the American River which joins the Sacramento.
Don't believe me? Ask my daughter...she actually panned flecks of gold while I was at my National Endowment for Humanities conference on the Gold Rush.
Give me a lovely summer evening, a gentle breeze and I'll drift to the past any time!
But the best part of the being there? My ancestor: John Conrad Naegle was working for John Sutter when gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill.
